In April, Mrs. Nicole (Nikki) Raftery was named Principal of Saint Mary School.  As we look ahead to the new school year, we are extremely appreciative to have the high-caliber talent of Mrs. Raftery at the helm to lead our school into the future.

Mrs. Raftery has an extremely diverse and well-rounded  background in academics, elementary education and administration. She started her career teaching 2nd Grade in 1998. Since that time, Mrs. Raftery has taught Pre-Kindergarten, 1st Grade and 5th Grade in both public and Catholic schools. Most recently she has served at Saint Joseph School in Libertyville as the Assistant Principal since 2009.

Instructional strategies and curriculum design have been Mrs. Raftery’s areas of specialized concentration over the past ten-plus years of her career. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and Special Education from Purdue University, as well as a Masters in Education, specializing in Educational Leadership, from National-Louis University.

“I am hopeful that together we will celebrate our successes, share our talents and grow our school so that year after year more and more children will reap the benefits of a Saint Mary education,” Mrs. Raftery said. “I look forward to an exceptional year of teaching, learning and growing together.”

Mrs. Raftery has begun her transition at Saint Mary this month and will assume her full-time responsibilities as Principal in July. We look forward to the new school year – and beyond – with Mrs. Raftery leading our children, faculty and community of Saint Mary School!
