Hockey/Ice Skating - Friday, December 23 - UPDATE

It was a great night for hockey and skating!

The Saint Mary Miracle on Ice Event is set for Friday, December 23, 2011 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Glacier Arena in Vernon Hills, IL

A few folks have called seeking additional details on the Jingle Jubilee Teachers Treasure “Miracle on Ice”.  The 2 hour skating event will include three components.

1) 5:00 – 5:30 p.m. Students of all ages can take shots on the teachers (Mr. T, Miss W. and Mrs. Mortensen).  All students are welcome to participate.  However, all participants are required to wear skates, helmets, gloves and have a hockey stick.  We have a few smaller sticks that the younger players are welcome to borrow for the event.

2) 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Family skate time…all are welcome on the ice.  No hockey pucks allowed as we expect lots of family members on the ice.   There will be pizza and soft drinks available in the lobby.

3) 6:30 – 7:00 p.m. Students Vs. Teachers hockey game.  Any child that plays hockey is welcome to join in the game.  Full hockey gear is required; helmet, pads, gloves, skates, mouth guard, stick, etc.  Students will not be allowed to play without proper equipment and protection. Players have been informed - No checking allowed, this is a friendly competition.  During the game anyone not playing can sit in the stands and cheer on the teachers or students.  This is going to be a lot of fun watching the teachers play hockey.

This is a Jingle Jubilee fundraiser and the cost of the ice time has been donated so except for a small expense for the pizza your $25 donation all goes to the school.

The cost is $25/skater for part or all of the evening.  Skates will be available at no additional charge.

If someone is coming just to watch (and not skate) but would like pizza we would just charge $5 to cover the cost of the pizza/drinks.

Anyone who is interested in attending email or call Lisa Schwabe, Maureen Orsini or Kathleen Byrd by Friday afternoon so we know how many people to plan on for pizza.

Send an email to school@stmarybg.org to reach someone.

We are looking forward to a great evening full of fun, laughter and good cheer…
